Happy Valentine's Day!

In "Three Sheep to the Wind," the boys celebrated valentine's day through some creative dying of llama fur. For myself, I'll have an all-day session with my laptop as I try to clear out to-dos before Monday comes harrowing in.

Goodreads hosted a lovely series of posts, one of which asked authors what their favorite romantic quote was. In my childhood, a line that always stuck with me was "Home is where the heart is, but there I never go," from a short story involving fruitcake and Christmas.

In the past year or so, another line that stood out to me was from Josh Lanyon's "Stranger on the Shore:"

“Intimacy issues' is code for 'I haven't met the right person.'"

"And what is 'trust issues' code for?"

Pierce held his gaze. "I'm afraid to believe I've met the right person.”

It resonated with me personally; a lot of romance is attraction, insta-love, insta-lust, which I admire and even hope for in my heart of hearts, but the core of me is a cynic. How do you trust that fast, especially if you've been burned before?

Despite all that, it's a holiday to celebrate love, so may you and your loved ones have a merry time.
